Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 15, 2026
PlateSnap is a web service operated by Niko as an individual. This policy explains what information PlateSnap processes when you use the service and why.
Information we process
- Account information: identifiers and email information used to create and authenticate an account.
- Generation data: reference images you upload, generation settings and prompts, result images, status, and related usage and credit records.
- Billing data: customer, subscription, payment-status, and transaction metadata needed to provide paid access. Payment details are entered with our billing provider rather than into the PlateSnap application.
- Product and technical data: pages viewed, product events, device or browser information, and request metadata such as IP address that may be processed by analytics, hosting, and security infrastructure.
- Communications: your email address and delivery information when PlateSnap sends account, product, or support email.
How we use information
We use this information to authenticate users; receive, process, and store generation requests; show generation history and credit status; operate billing; deliver service communications; understand product use; troubleshoot failures; and protect the service.
PlateSnap uses generative AI. Reference images, prompts, and generation settings are sent for AI processing. AI output can alter ingredients, portions, plating, backgrounds, or visible text, so review every result before using it.
Current service providers
PlateSnap currently relies on:
- WorkOS for authentication;
- Convex for application data and file storage;
- fal.ai for AI image processing;
- Polar for billing;
- PostHog for product analytics;
- Resend for email delivery; and
- Cloudflare for hosting and request delivery.
These providers process information under their own terms and privacy practices. They may process data in locations outside your own country.
Retention and deletion
We keep information for as long as reasonably needed to operate PlateSnap, maintain account and transaction records, resolve problems, protect the service, and meet legal obligations. Retention depends on the type of information and account activity; PlateSnap does not promise a single fixed retention period for every category.
You may ask to access, correct, or delete information associated with your account by emailing us. Some records may need to be retained when required for transaction, security, dispute, or legal purposes.
Cookies and similar technology
PlateSnap uses session technology needed for sign-in and may use cookies or similar browser storage for authentication, preferences, and product analytics.
Children
PlateSnap is intended for people and businesses able to enter into these terms. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly seek personal information from children.
Security
We use reasonable technical and operational measures to protect the service, but no online service or storage system can guarantee absolute security.
Changes
We may update this policy as the product or its providers change. The date at the top identifies the current version.
